Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:

This position reports to the Trackside IT Manager or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the deployment, support and development of trackside IT systems for the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team. The Trackside IT System Technician will play a key part in ensuring the delivery of best in class IT to the company and its users.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Deploy, support and pack away trackside IT systems at all race and test events, maintaining maximum uptime and reliability, following all checklists and monitoring throughout events.
  • Plan and perform upgrades and changes to infrastructure both in and out of the racing season, adhering to change control and risk management.
  • Provide 1st to 3rd line technical support to users at the track & factory, ensuring SLA’s and targets are met.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the trackside network (LAN, WAN and WLAN).
  • Support server hardware, storage platforms and security appliances.
  • Support and administer Windows based services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Support, administer and develop virtualization platforms.
  • Support F1 specific hardware and software at track and factory.
  • Manage trackside inventory, stock levels, forecasts and procurement.
  • Complete reports in a timely manner, and ensure documentation is kept up to date and accurate.
  • Adhere to all IT and wider business processes and policies.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

Other duties as assigned by the Trackside IT Manager or their designee.

 

Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including BSc or MIS in Computer Science required, or equivalent work experience. Typically requires at least 2-3 years’ experience in the IT field.  Exposure to a racing environment preferred.  Working in an international environment desirable.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Have an excellent understanding of English language.
  • Have relevant experience in a similar technical position, ideally in a motorsport or other pressured environment.
  • An exception service orientated mindset, with experience of user support as well as infrastructure & technical development and troubleshooting.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Be able to work independently to strict deadlines as well as being a strong team player.
  • A quick thinker, be a flexible and adaptive character with the ability react to and solve problems with speed and efficiency, sometimes under highly pressurized situations.
  • Be extremely self-driven and motivated to be the best at what you do every day.
  • A willingness to constantly learn and develop both personal and technical skills.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid understanding of Ethernet networking, switching, routing, network installations and troubleshooting. CCNA or equivalent certifications is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, desktop environments, virtualisation and Active Directory.
  • A working knowledge of McLaren Applied Technology software such as Atlas, System Monitor, Atlas Data Server and SQL Race is advantageous.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role requires extensive international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
