General Summary:

This position reports to the Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee; and is located in Banbury, UK. The Senior Indirect Buyer is responsible for shaping category strategies, sourcing, and the timely delivery of quality goods and services within budget. Autonomously leading negotiations on pricing, terms, and lead time and proactively ensure best practices are adopted and followed at all times.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for indirect procurement of goods and services to support the operation of the wider team, ensuring delivery, cost, and quality targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Lead the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions for products and services.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Operate within budgets and achieve agreed procurement cost saving targets.
  • Other duties as assigned by Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the execution of the indirect equipment strategies.
  • Ensure operational targets and key performance indicators are achieved for Indirect products and services, whilst working under tight time constraints.
  • Lead contract negotiations with external vendors for indirect products and services.
  • Compile agreements with external partners ready for internal submission and review and ensure subsequent adherence to these agreements by both parties.
  • Analyze cost, quality, lead time and supply risk to determine parts which can be sourced elsewhere to improve supply.
  • High levels of collaboration with relevant departments to ensure sourcing strategies are effective.
  • Contribute to the shaping of purchasing guidelines, policies and procedures, continually challenging cost, quality and lead time.
  • Sourcing value for money, quality suppliers, and securing commercially appropriate quotations; negotiating pricing and payment terms.  
  • Foresee potential quality and delivery risks, with the knowledge to implement corrective actions.
  • Building effective and beneficial relationships with suppliers
  • Responsible for the operational execution of all elements in the procure to pay cycle.
  • Feedback any changes which could reduce the cost and/or improve the quality of supply without negatively effecting the function of the good or service.
  • Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee.
  • Oversee the ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or other professional qualification; and/or significant experience in complex and fast paced Procurement environments.
  • Successful track record of negotiations, developing effective tendering and contracting processes, requiring knowledge of complex stakeholders and market conditions.
  • Proven ability to negotiate terms and conditions independently, with the knowledge of when to seek legal advice.
  • Experience of working in an international environment.
  • Experience in the motorsports industry would be advantageous, but not essential.

  • Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
  • Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
  • Able to strategically manage a category or categories whilst being able to deliver tactical solutions.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with a natural ability to recognize effective deals.
  • Ability to interact, engage, and influence key internal stakeholders to ensure the best business outcomes; whilst building credibility across all departments at all levels.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Proficient with industry standard ERP Systems.
  • Proficient in software applications such as Power BI, Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast- paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
