Race Engineer - Contractor

One Motorsport

One Motorsport is a Touring and GT race team based in Brackley, Northamptonshire. Having won the BTCC independent Teams and Drivers trophy multiple times, we pride ourselves on the continued development and success of the team.

We are looking for a Race Engineer (contractor) who can ensure the seamless, efficient operation of one of our BTCC cars across all test and race events for the 2025 season.

Reporting to the Chief Race Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing all trackside technical aspects, with a focus on well-orchestrated procedures, communication between the car team and use data analysis to extract the best performance from the team, driver and car.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of one of the team’s cars, ensuring smooth, compliant, and high-performance operations.
  • Promote effective communication and teamwork among mechanics, engineers, and the driver.
  • Plan, manage, and execute efficient run plans to maximise learning and data collection.
  • Make swift, informed decisions on car setup and optimisation based on data analysis, driver feedback, and input from the team.
  • Maintain detailed records of car setup, driver feedback, component changes and relevant notes to support operational continuity.
  • Ensure vehicle compliance with all sporting and technical regulations

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or a related field
  • Competent with a high-level data analysis package
  • Competent IT skills including Office365
  • Good vehicle dynamics and chassis set-up knowledge
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Be a good team player with a positive attitude
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Be presentable and well-organised
  • Good communication skills
  • Hold a full driving license with UK entitlements.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience with front-wheel drive Touring Cars

This role would suit either a self-employed engineer or an employee with enough flexibility from their employer to take annual leave to suit our requirements.  Must be available for all events and on the Friday before each event. Some ‘work from home’ will be required.

Ideally, we would like an experienced engineer that has run front-wheel drive Touring Cars in the past, however we would also like to hear from outstanding support engineers which are able to step-up to be a race engineer at this level, for the first time.
