Envision Racing is a UK-based Formula E team competing in the FIA Formula E World Championship. With a proven track record of success and a commitment to innovation and sustainability, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Performance Engineer to join our Engineering team and contribute to our pursuit of performance at the highest level of electric motorsport. Performance Engineer – Formula E Team
• This role will sit within the Performance Engineering group to support race events (trackside and/or in Remote Ops), simulator sessions and test days.
• Collaborate with the wider Engineering group to optimise car setup. tyre and driver performance, applying vehicle dynamics principals to maximise on-track performance.
• Configure and calibrate vehicle performance systems to optimise car behaviour and handling,
• Analyse simulation and track data to recommend setup directions via monitoring and interpreting key performance indicators (KPIs) to support engineering decisions.
• Lead and contribute to offline simulations and the development of in-house performance simulation tools using Python, MATLAB, VBA or similar.
• Contribute to future vehicle development through insight gained from performance analysis.
• Deliver clear, data-driven feedback to inform car setup and race strategy decisions.
Key skillset requirements:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a vehicle performance engineering role at a high level of motorsport (e.g. Formula E, F1, F2, F3, IndyCar, WEC).
• Strong engineering ability with excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to data analysis.
• Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and interaction with electric powertrain control systems.
• Proficient with modern data analysis tools, ideally ATLAS.
• Experience developing and using simulation tools for performance analysis and race preparation.
• Strong planning, communication, and reporting skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
Desired skills:
• Proactive mindset, self-motivated, and committed to delivering performance gains.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate engineering information clearly and concisely.
• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical or Motorsport Engineering, or a related field.
This position is based at Silverstone in our purpose-built workshop, with free onsite parking, an onsite gym, and access to peaceful woodland surroundings. The position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel regularly.
