We are seeking a skilled and passionate mechanic with expertise in high-performance and drift vehicles to join our motorsport team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive performance tuning, fabrication, and repair, with a focus on enhancing the handling, power, and durability of vehicles used in competitive drifting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Maintenance and Repair:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in performance vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance, including engine tune-ups, fluid changes, and system inspections.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to suspension, drivetrain, brakes, and engine performance.
2. Performance Tuning and Modifications:
- Install and optimize high-performance parts, such as turbochargers, superchargers, exhaust systems, and intake systems.
- Conduct custom ECU tuning for maximum engine performance and reliability.
- Optimize suspension setups for drift-specific handling, including camber, toe, and caster adjustments.
3. Fabrication and Customization:
- Design and fabricate custom components, including roll cages, brackets, and exhaust systems.
- Modify body panels and chassis for weight reduction and aerodynamic performance.
- Install safety equipment, including racing seats, harnesses, and fire suppression systems.
4. Track Support:
- Provide on-site technical support during drift events, including quick repairs and adjustments.
- Collaborate with drivers to optimize vehicle setup based on track conditions and driving style.
- Conduct post-event inspections and repairs to ensure vehicle readiness.
5. Documentation and Inventory Management:
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, upgrades, and maintenance schedules.
- Track inventory of performance parts, tools, and consumables.
6. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with drivers, engineers, and other team members to achieve performance goals.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in drift car technology.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an automotive mechanic, with a focus on high-performance or motorsport vehicles.
- Expertise in engine tuning, suspension setup, and drift-specific vehicle dynamics.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, welding equipment, and fabrication tools.
- Strong understanding of turbocharged and supercharged systems.
- Familiarity with aftermarket ECU systems (e.g., Haltech, MoTeC, AEM).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced motorsport environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of FIA and motorsport safety standards is a plus.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in automotive technology preferred.
- ASE certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Welding and fabrication certifications are highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
- Work will involve both a workshop environment and trackside support during events.
- Long hours, including weekends and travel for competitions, may be required.
