Mahindra Racing is a motor racing team based in Banbury, United Kingdom, competing with an Indian racing licence. The team is currently competing in the electric FIA Formula E Championship since the inaugural season in 2014

 

Role Overview:

This is a technical role and requires someone who is of a technical mindset with multitude of skillset and a ‘can do’ attitude to be successful and thriving for ‘Operation Excellence’ in the IT department. You will maintain and develop systematic monitoring of the IT Infrastructure to improve and bolster the team’s resilience. You shall create and maintain core IT documentation such as asset lists, network architecture diagrams, infrastructure asset list. You will need to be experienced in all the usual IT infrastructure related disciplines of servers, domain controllers, storage, networking and hardware firewalls, O365 deployment along with VMware virtualisation. Knowledge of motorsport specific hardware and software and cybersecurity policies will be an added advantage.

The IT Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of all IT infrastructure and end-user computing within the Mahindra racing team. This includes managing a growing team, providing hands-on support for systems, servers, networks, and end-user devices. The role also requires occasional travel to race and test events to monitor and improve IT operations.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the IT department, providing guidance, prioritisation, support, and mentorship to the department.
  • Review and maintain an effective IT service desk solution within the company to provide technical infrastructure support, software licensing and troubleshooting assistance to employees, resolving all IT-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Developing IT infrastructure dash boards for factory, test and race to help in monitoring and identifying issues and troubleshooting these issues with prioritisation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address technology needs, ensuring efficient and effective use of IT resources.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of all IT systems, implementing appropriate measures to protect against cyber threats and data breaches.
  • Creating an efficient maintenance and upgrade schedule with change management without any interruption of the usual day to day business operations.
  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships managing procurement and service level agreements.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for their integration into the company's IT systems and creating an IT road map with head of IT in higher level meetings to future proof the company needs and IT performance.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures and core documentation to ensure compliance and standardisation. Operating a departmental fault system to identify and improve gaps in knowledge, documentation, procedures etc.
  • Monitor IT performance metrics, analyse data, and generate reports for head of IT and management review.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • An undergraduate/postgraduate degree or equivalent working experience in IT and computer science is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Windows server management, Client end Windows 10/11, Active Directory, VPN, DNS, MS Azure, O365, Intune, AWS, Veeam, Bash, shell programming.
  • Great understanding of managing firewalls and desktop anti-virus software such as Sophos, Ivanti and Qualys.
  • Hands on experience of managing and maintaining virtualisation tools such as VMware, Hyper-V.
  • Experience in configuring service desk environments such as ServiceNow, Jira, SharePoint
  • Basic experience in configuration management tools like ansible would be beneficial.
  • Strong experience of managing people and being able to deliver targeted development to those you manage.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the IT team and across other departments in the company.
  • Prince2 Foundation and ITIL qualification is highly desirable.
  • IT qualifications of CCNA and similar is an advantage
  • A passion for motorsport and a good understanding of the industry's unique IT requirements.
