Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with the Bodywork Manager to create a comprehensive work list, ensuring timely arrival of necessary parts.
- Evaluate the condition of bodywork after each event to identify and address any issues.
- Assist the Bodywork Manager in compiling a repair work list.
- Document post-event concerns related to the car's bodywork.
- Determine which repairs can be handled in-house and which need to be outsourced.
- Perform required carbon fiber repairs on bodywork components.
- Collaborate with the Parts Manager to arrange for parts to be sent to repair facilities.
- Ensure proper assembly of all components according to RLL specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of nose and tail assemblies.
- Weigh each individual piece during assembly and log weights on the build sheet.
- Track and document the shims required for correct nose and tail alignment.
- Confirm that all components used in assemblies meet the latest or correct specifications.
- Verify that all lighting is properly installed and fully functional.
- Organize the IMSA bodywork area efficiently.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of usable parts and assemblies.
- Separate and transfer obsolete parts to storage.
- Address all TSI and TI requirements for bodywork lighting.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in carbon/composite repair.
- Vocational or trade school certification in composite repair, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
- Proficiency with all standard shop and mechanical tools, including:
- Vacuum bagging equipment, heat lamps, and grinders
- Precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers and micrometers
