The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.


We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of business software applications within our organization. This role will be crucial in ensuring that our technical solutions are efficient, streamlined, and aligned with the company's strategic goals all while ensuring the team remains compliant, secure and risk aware. Manage a team of skilled professionals, liaise with various departments, and collaborate with external vendors to drive the success of our enterprise applications suite. This position, while based in the UK carries responsibly across all Haas F1 Team sites.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the department, ensuring targets and milestones are achieved. 
  • Manage department personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
  • Mentor, train and guide personnel as required. Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
  • Responsible for establishing and adhering to departmental budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department. Identify and implement efficiency measures as appropriate. 
  • Produce monthly departmental reports to the CIO detailing the status of the department, including but not limited to, budget actuals and major projects. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the CIO or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute a comprehensive enterprise applications strategy aligned with the organization's digital strategy and supporting business objectives.
  • Manage, mentor and recruit staff within the Enterprise Applications group.  Set clear goals, provide mentoring & guidance, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Be the main point of contact and advice for best practice in your area of expertise. Provide 
  • technical expertise, direction, and advice to your team and others and ensure these are aligned to organizational goals, objectives and standards.
  • Project manage where appropriate, overseeing, supervising, and assisting with the execution of digital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet all quality and code standards, whilst maintaining an OOTB and best practice approach.
  • Work with department heads and key stakeholders to ensure ongoing software requirements are captured and managed in line with wider business strategic direction.
  • Create and maintain up to date documentation for each application within the portfolio alongside standard IT Technical documentation deliverables throughout the system life cycle.
  • Manage relationships with third-party software vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts & licenses, reviewing service-level agreements (SLAs), and ensure vendors meet their obligations.
  • Provide escalation support for technical difficulties, complex or urgent issues and coordinate with the digital support team(s) when necessary.
  • Help develop and maintain company Policy & Procedure, ensuring that enterprise applications comply with all policies and security standards while contributing to departmental maturity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions that are aligned to the demands of company visions and strategic direction.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Education such as BSc or MIS in an ICT related qualification required.
  • Typically requires at least 5-7 years’ experience in a digital or business environment and experience of managing digital teams. 

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP and/or PLM technologies, preferably in racing or automotive environments.
  • Advanced and wide-reaching knowledge of how technology and digital initiatives drive companies forward.
  • Good understanding of data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Solid understanding of business process and operational maturity.
  • Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
  • Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
