The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.


We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. The ESG Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the companies Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives while aligning with industry expectations and regulatory requirements.  This role is pivotal in aligning our business practices with sustainable principles, ensuring transparency, compliance, and positive impact.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsible for the performance of the department, ensuring targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Manage department personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
  • Mentor, train and guide personnel as required. Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
  • Responsible for establishing and adhering to departmental budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • ESG strategies: Help develop and lead the execution of the teams ESG Strategies, operational plans, policies, and frameworks that align with the company's values and objectives.
  • Collaborate across departments: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG practices into all business functions, including operations, purchasing, human resources, finance and trackside.
  • ESG programs:  Oversee the implementation of ESG programs covering areas such as environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, diversity and inclusion, community outreach, and ethical practices.
  • Conduct ESG assessments: Identify key sustainability risks, opportunities, and performance indicators through thorough ESG assessments.
  • Monitor and report ESG performance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, sporting requirements, and industry standards by monitoring and reporting on ESG performance.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Engage with stakeholders such as team partners, employees, suppliers, and communities to promote and communicate the company's sustainability efforts.
  • Training and culture: Develop and deliver training materials to educate employees on ESG policies, fostering a culture of sustainability across the company.
  • Content creation: Assist in crafting content on sustainability for executive reports, partner relations, social media and other communications regarding ESG performance and initiatives.
  • ESG Trends: Keep abreast of emerging ESG trends, best practices, and regulatory developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Advise Leadership: Provide guidance to senior management on ESG matters and recommend actions to enhance the company's ESG performance.
  • Oversee the ad-hoc projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or a related field is desired. 
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or related role is required. 
  • Hands on experience with ESG frameworks and familiarity with managing projects related to environmental impact required. 
  • A strong candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, strategic insight, and interpersonal skills to lead ESG initiatives effectively.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and global standards related to ESG and sustainability, particularly ISO 14001.
  • Familiarity with managing projects related to environmental impact, social equity, and governance practices.
  • Analytical skills for interpreting ESG performance metrics and assessing risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
  • Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, ERP Systems.
  • Proficiency in ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
