The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:

Working within the PLM group, this position reports to the Head of Business Process or their designee; is based in Banbury, UK within the PLM Team. The BoM controller is responsible for the construction and management of the Engineering Bill of material (E-BoM) ensuring that it is built with the precision and consistency needed for it to be an enabler for Design-in-Context activities. The E-BoM is recognized as key business asset and is used to support multiple business processes. For that reason, the quality, integrity and completeness of data held within the E-BoM demands careful management and maintenance to satisfy the requirements of multiple cross functional business departments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.

·        Using Haas E-BoM data quality checks work with the design office to ensure all data is captured and positioned correctly in the structure ensuring and any data issues are addressed in a timely manner.

·        Define a set of E-BoM Standards and use this to govern the quality, integrity, and completeness of data in line with the demands of the product lifecycle.

·        Ensure consistent BoM structure levelling that can be used to facilitate data location and the management of options and variants.

·        In line with the Build Spec maintain a set of E-BoM filters that can be used to filter the structure ensuring it can digitally represent conditions for every race or test event.

·        Working with the Digital Build Engineer ensure that the E-BoM can be used as an input to the M-BoM, work to define a structure methodology that will help this integration as efficient as possible.

·        Develop solutions to ensure that the E-BoM has the capability to manage both formal and informal change.

·        Manage importing of data from our Technical partners ensuring that any potential data duplications are avoided and changes are communicated across the relevant departments.

·        Manage any Data Import and Export activities from the BoM structure as needed in line with FIA regulations and protocol.

·        Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

·        Other duties as assigned by the Head of Business Process.

 

Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including University Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering desired. Preferably 4 years of experience of CAD digital build within an Automotive or Aerospace environment. Prior experience in Formula One is advantageous.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

·        Strong Technical background in using CAD data and Bills of Material.

·        Good understanding of Engineering change management protocols associated with product design and development activities.

·        Needs to be proactive, flexible, organized and able to prioritize own workload.

·        Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.

·        Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.

·        Resolute in ensuring completeness of data and chasing down gaps

·        Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.

·        A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.

·        A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

·        Solid computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products and PLM systems – ideally Dassault Systemes (3DExperience).

·        Ability to prepare and present effective presentations of complex subjects to a diverse audience in an engaging way and agreeing outcomes for resolution.

·        Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
